Our Story
At Tūrama Ora, we are privileged to live on our ancestral whenua, land that has been passed down through many generations of our whānau. This connection to the land grounds us, shapes our purpose, and guides us in everything we do. Our mission is to honor our whakapapa by being kaitiaki (custodians) of the land, practicing sustainable living, and giving back to the whenua that nurtures us.
Living as kaitiaki means that we see our role as caretakers of not only the physical land but also its spiritual aspects. mauri tu mauri ora. We cultivate our land with care, growing our own food, and tending to the natural environment in ways that support its health and vitality for future generations. Sustainability is at the heart of our practices, from organic gardening to sourcing local materials and minimizing our environmental footprint. We understand that when we give back to the land, the land gives back to us in abundance.
Our retreat spaces, nestled on these ancient lands, are designed to create harmony between people and nature. We invite our guests to experience the beauty and peace of this sacred space, to reconnect with the rhythms of the earth, mauri and to discover the healing potential that comes from living in balance with Papatūānuku (Mother Earth).
Our commitment to sustainability is reflected in everything we do—from the meals we prepare with ingredients from our maara (garden and farm) to the luxurious yet eco-conscious accommodations we provide. We see each moment as an opportunity to honor our ancestors, care for the environment, and support the well-being of our whānau and guests.
At Tūrama Ora, we offer more than just a retreat—we provide a space where you can reconnect with yourself, your whakapapa, and the land. Together, we illuminate a future where aroha (love), creativity, and sustainability shine brightly for the benefit of all.
